Working Patterns

Working Patterns: Overview

Working Patterns are important so that the platform can identify what days the employee typically works. This means that the platform can understand what allowance to deduct when the employee submits a holiday request.

For example, if an employee works Monday to Friday 9-5, then the employee's balance will be unaffected if they select a weekend date as part of their absence request. This is because the working pattern would dictate that the employee does not work on these days.

It is likely that your organisation will hold a number of working patterns in the platform to accommodate for employees who work part time, compressed hours, job shares etc.

An employee must have a working pattern associated with their profile, otherwise they will be unable to submit any absence requests.

Working patterns can be assigned to Absence Policies, meaning that employees will inherit the associated working pattern. However, Absence Policies and Working Patterns can be used in different combinations if so desired.
