We deliver these updates to enhance your experience with StaffCircle, improving its value, functionality, and features.
TLDR; A single database of all courses available to your employees, with urls enabling them to link off to the course content. A Training Objective type, providing specific visibility over training ROI, skills acquisition, and content quality. A dedicated Training Log area for both Managers and Employees, with certification expiry, certificate uploads, and obtained skills.
Training Logs
A new section called "Training" is available on an employee's record (and from their profile, see the section about permissions below). This section enables the creation and management of certifications/qualifications obtained by your employees.
Logging the training taken by employees helps organisations to:
- See the new skills and skill levels being obtained by their workforce
- Understand whether compliance and regulatory related training is still active, expiring soon, or has already expired
- Review training budgets and return on training investment
- Provide more meaningful performance and development reviews.
What information can be captured?
Below is a list of all fields available within the Training Logs.

What about the skills?
When a Training Log is manually added where skills and skill levels have been included, and upon clicking "SAVE", a dialogue is then presented to the Manager to confirm whether they just want to save the record of training, or, if they'd like to save and also have the employee's skills and skill levels be updated.
For existing customers...
If you're already a StaffCircle customer, you'll know that there's always been an element of being able to log training, but it was bunched together with an employee benefits section.
The "Benefits & Training" section has now been split, and when going to an employee record you'll see a section for "Benefits", and another for "Training".
For any benefits previously logged with a type of "Training Qualification", we've migrated these to the new Training section.
When it comes to viewing, adding, and updating training, we've introduced additional actions to some existing permissions.
Permissions
The below table details the Training & Skills permissions. Please note for existing customers you may need to tweak some of your security groups to give people additional actions.

Beta Feature: Unified Training Database (v.1.45.0/v.1.45.1)
We've leant heavily into employee development over the last 12 months, and to enhance our suite of products we've officially launched our Unified Training Database and Training Objectives.
The Unified Training Database (or Course Library for short) offers one place to house all the available training you provide to your employees. Sharepoint, OneDrive, LinkedIn Learning, and Udemy, are just some of the places where great learning material sits, but your employees are required to log in and out of various platforms, Managers are left with the task of updating personnel files with training certifications, and then there's updating skills that're housed in an excel spreadsheet.
The above, coupled with our new Training Objective type, provides a seemless experience to browse courses, learn new skills, log certification, validate learning, and automatically update skills.
Overview
Our new beta feature includes two elements, and a number of sub-elements, as follows:
- Unified Training Database
- Course Library: Course information, such as name, id, url, description, training provider, etc. can be added and managaed for seamless employee upskilling/re-skilling.
- Import: Courses can be bulk imported using an example spreadsheet. This also includes the assigning of skills that can be obtained by completing the course. We also have an API that can be utilised to import courses.
- Settings: There are 4 settings:
- Approval Required Notification
- Require training to be validated
- Allow Ad-Hoc training to be added
- Automatically create a Training Log

- Training Objective
- Course Selection: Training Objectives can be added via course selection. As an employee, only self-serve courses are available for selection, however Managers and above will have full access to the course list.
- Skill Selection: Training Objectives can be added via skill selection. The required/desired skill and skill level is selected and all relevant courses are presented.
- Ad-Hoc Selection: Training Objectives can be added via ad-hoc selection*. If a course isn't available in the library, and/or the user has carried out self-learning, the ad-hoc option allows for certain course information to be added and ensures the relevant URL is available to the employee when accessing their Training Objective.

*the "Allow Ad-Hoc training to be added" setting must be enabled in the Course Library Settings.
As we're currently in the beta phase of this feature, we will be making small amendments based on early adopter feedback and internal enhancements we think will benefit the platform. Should you have any questions regarding the feature, and would like a demo, please email your Customer Success Manager and we'll get that arranged!
