In addition to the Single Sign On (SSO) capabilities outlined here, StaffCircle also has the ability to use Active Directory to provide employee information to populate the system. The following fields from Active Directory are supported:
Id, GivenName, Surname, Birthday, UserPrincipalName,
BusinessPhones[0], MobilePhone, StreetAddress, PostalCode, City, State, Country, CreatedDateTime / HireDate, ProfileImage,
Department, JobTitle, OfficeLocation, Manager
Full Details of the relationship with StaffCircle Data and the rules applied on update are available in this document Office 365 Active Directory Data Integration.pdf
When Office 365 is activated. The Active Directory is used as the master information repository and drives information into the StaffCircle platform. The information can be controlled in the Office 365 admin centre.
Rules
Replications
Active Directory should be treated as the master source of information. Changes should always be made in Active Directory. Changes will be replicated in StaffCircle when the sync takes place.
Any changes made in the StaffCircle platform may be overwritten with Active Directory information when information syncs.
Details of these rules can be found here Office 365 Active Directory Data Integration.pdf
User Filtering
When in your 0365 integration, you will see a new section, "User Filtering". And within the section you're able to filter your users in the following 3 ways:
- User Types
- Groups
- Extension Attributes
User Types
The options within this drop down are "Member" or "Guest". This option has been included as some customers utilise the Member user type for employees, and the Guest user type for contractors.
Groups
There are two group filters. The first shows the types of groups available, for example "Security" or "Distribution", and the second will show all available groups in your AD.
If, for example, you select "Security" in the first filter, the second filter will then only show security groups.
Extension Attributes
Within your AD, you are able to set Extension Attributes, which act like custom fields. Now, within the StaffCircle O365 integration, you're able to filter on these Extension Attributes.
Saving Your Filtering
After applying your user filtering, it's important to click "SAVE IMPORT SETTINGS". This will ensure that only those users you've filtered to are synced across to StaffCircle.
Managers
Managers are imported from Active Directory. If no Manager exists, the department Manager from StaffCircle will be used. If no department Manager is assigned in StaffCircle, the Platform Administrator will be assigned as the Manager of the employee.
Remove Sign Up Notifications
We have introduced a toggle to allow the bypass of email activation. When this is toggled on, the activation email will be bypassed and users will immediately be activated (if auto activation is on) or activated from their profile.
