Office 365 Integration

Office 365 - How to Configure

Configuring 365 sync within StaffCircle

Within the Integrations area in Settings, you will find the Office 365 integration.

To configure the integration, please carry out the following steps. Please be aware that you will need to be an administrator of your Office 365 org in order to successfully install.

On the Office 365 Integration, start by clicking "Add Integration".

Office 365

  • You'll then be taken to the Microsoft sign in page, where you'll need to select your account if already logged in to Office 365, or you'll need to enter your Office 365 credentials and sign in if you aren't already.
    Office 365 2
  • From there, Click 'Accept' to grant StaffCircle permissions access to the Office 365

Office 365 3

  • Office 365 single sign on is now activated, anyone already with a StaffCircle account that matches up to an Office 365 user in the active directory will now need to use the Office 365 login functionality to sign in to StaffCircle.

  • Additional Features

once the integration has been configured you can now return back to the integration page and click

  • Firstly, you'll be able to choose whether you want to turn on "Auto Sync" which means that a StaffCircle user will automatically be created when adding a new active directory user, and will be deleted when one is removed.

You can also choose to "Auto Activate Users" which means as soon as the user is added in Active Directory and therefore created in StaffCircle, the StaffCircle user activation email will be sent automatically. We advise turning this off if you are using areas of the platform that require further user configuration before they're ready to use the platform.

  • When in your 0365 integration, you will see a new section, "User Filtering". And within the section you're able to filter your users in the following 3 ways:

    • User Types
    • Groups
    • Extension Attributes

    User Types
The options within this drop down are "Member" or  "Guest". This option has been included as some customers utilise the Member user type for employees, and the Guest user type for contractors.

    Groups
There are two group filters. The first shows the types of groups available, for example "Security" or "Distribution", and the second will show all available groups in your AD.

If, for example, you select "Security" in the first filter, the second filter will then only show security groups.

    Extension Attributes
Within your AD, you are able to set Extension Attributes, which act like custom fields. Now, within the StaffCircle O365 integration, you're able to filter on these Extension Attributes.

    Saving Your Filtering

After applying your user filtering, it's important to click "SAVE IMPORT SETTINGS". This will ensure that only those users you've filtered to are synced across to StaffCircle.

  • You will also see a list of all of your active directory users.
  • Users that match a StaffCircle account will already be activated. However, if you do not have "Auto Sync" switched on and wish to create a user based off this list, simply select the tick box next to their name and click "Import".
  • The features this bring it will allow you to disable users in 365 and this will automatically block login to staffCircle but all their information will remain on the system.
  • You can also force 365 log in only, which will only allow Single sign on upon logging into staffCircle
    .
