Manage StaffCircle Notification Settings and Review Alerts

Summary This article explains how to manage notification settings and configure review-related notifications in StaffCircle, including where to change global notification types and how to set notifications for review templates.

Global notification settings

  • Navigate to the Comms section in the left-hand sidebar.
  • Go to Configuration → Notification Settings.
  • Expand each notification type (Email, In App, Push, SMS) by clicking the arrows next to it.
  • Use the toggle switches to enable or disable each notification type as required.

Notes on notification types

  • Email: notifications sent to users' email addresses.
  • In App: notifications shown inside the StaffCircle app.
  • Push: notifications delivered to mobile or web browsers (push notifications are not supported on iOS for PWAs).
  • SMS: text notifications sent to mobile phones for urgent items.

Customising notification content

  • To change the content of notifications, use the notification templates area (notification templates can be edited to modify message content).

Configuring notifications for reviews and participants Step-by-step: tailor review notifications

  1. Go to the Reviews or Objectives & Reviews area from the sidebar.
  2. Select an existing review template or create a new one.
  3. In the template wizard, open the Notifications section.
  4. For participant types shown in the template (e.g., Reviewer, Reviewee, Internal Reviewer, Direct Reports, External Reviewer), use the available toggles to enable or disable notification types (In App, Email, Push, SMS, Teams).
  5. Save the template to apply your changes.

How template-level notifications apply

  • You can enable or disable which notification types are sent for reviewees (and other participant types) at the review template level.
  • Notification type settings in the review template apply to the template’s participants; they are configured at the template/feature level rather than per individual participant.
  • Customising notification content is done via notification templates, which also apply at the feature/template level.

Troubleshooting and tips

  • If you need different notification behavior for specific individuals, note that template settings apply to participants as a group rather than enabling unique notification configurations per individual participant.
  • Use notification templates to adjust the wording and content of messages sent by enabled notification types.
  • Remember push notifications may not be delivered for iOS users when StaffCircle is used as a PWA.

Conclusion Manage global notification delivery types from Comms → Configuration → Notification Settings, and control review-related notifications by configuring options in each review template’s Notifications section. Use notification templates to customise message content; template-level settings determine which types are sent to participants rather than enabling per-individual notification configurations.
