Award Channels

Creating an Awards Channel

Creating an awards channel is a great way for employees to publicly assign awards to their peers. It boosts morale and lets the employees know that their efforts have been impactful.

A channel needs to sit within a custom feed. Therefore, you will need to create a custom feed prior to creating your awards channel. For further information on creating a custom feeds, please refer to this guide.

Step One

Navigate to the Communications module in administration mode, and click the CUSTOM FEED tab. This will display a list of all your custom feeds.

🚀 If you are using our new menu feature, hover over the Communication section of the side-bar, then navigate to:

Configuration ➡️Custom Feeds

Select the Custom Feeds title and skip to step two of this guide.

Step Two

Select the name of a Custom Feed you wish to add the awards channel to. This will open up the feed including any channels which may already be associated under the CHANNELS IN CUSTOM FEED section.

Step Three

Click the small plus button in the CHANNELS IN CUSTOM FEED section. This will open up the ADD CHANNEL pull-out drawer to the right-hand side of the screen.

Step Four

Complete the fields within the drawer. The title is for the name of the channel - this will be visible to users when they view the custom feed (please see example below). You can add a tag for the feed.

Step Five

Having added a title and a tag, you'll then have some options that allow you to customise the channel.

For further detailed information as to what all of the Settings toggles do, please refer to this guide.

The toggle required to allow users to assign awards the custom feed is the Allow Users To Assign Awards toggle.

Turning this on means that users will be able to assign peer to peer awards to other users that will be automatically posted on this channel.

Step Six

Turning on the Channel is Visible in Custom Feed toggle essentially makes the channel 'live' and allows end users to view the channel in the custom feed.

If you are not ready to publish the custom feed at this point, ensure that the toggles is enabled when you're ready to go live.

Step Seven

The toggles in the notification settings will control which type of notifications a user will receive when a post is made to that channel.

Remember that when an award is assigned to an employee, the employee and their manager will receive a notification. These notifications pertain to the channel notifications which are sent to everyone with access to the channel.

Step Eight

If you leave the 'Allow Users to Subscribe' toggle untoggled then you can control who has visibility of the custom feed. Choose EVERYONE, or select I'LL CHOOSE to select individuals, teams, departments or sites instead.

Step Nine

Click the SAVE button in the bottom right-hand corner to save your awards channel.
