Absence Settings: Bradford Factor
StaffCircle supports calculation of the Bradford Factor to measure how much employee absence could be affecting your company.
What Is The Bradford Factor?
The Bradford Factor or Bradford Formula is used in human resource management as a means of measuring worker absenteeism.
It was developed as a way of highlighting the disproportionate level of disruption of an organisation's performance that can be caused by short-term absences compared to single instances of prolonged absence.
The Bradford Factor is calculated over a set period as follows:
B = S × S × D
where:
-
B is the Bradford Factor
-
S is the total number of spells (instances) of absence of an individual over a set period
-
D is the total number of days of absence of that individual over the same set period
The 'set period' is typically set as a rolling 52-week period.
Enabling Bradford Factor In StaffCircle
Bradford Factor can be enabled in the Absence Settings area of absence by enabling the 'Use Bradford Factor' switch.
Once Bradford factor has been enabled you can select which of your absence types will be used in Bradford Factor scoring, by updating your absence types in the absence type settings page and enabling the 'Bradford Factor Applies' switch. For further information, refer to this guide.
